Yun Kara Palm x10
Yun's Kara palm is performed with st. MK. So the input is...
[down, down-back, back +MK~MP/HP]
There's a huge window during which time the st. MK can be cancelled, depending on how far forward you wish to move or how quickly you want the Palm to come out.
In order to connect the maximum amount of kara-palms during genei jin, hitting the palm as meaty as possible (ie. as close to the end of it's active frames as you can) is just as important as moving Yun forward. This is because every frame after the actual hit that the palm is still active, Yun will be pushed away.
So, the key is to judge the gap between each one and maximize forward movement during that time. This is achieved by hitting st. MK as early as possible every time (preventing Yun from ever standing still) and then canceling it into the palm at the earliest it will connect.
Kara-palms can still be useful when you're out of range and you simply want 1 extra palm to hit before a lunge or f+MK for example. In these situations, forward movement is the priority. So you should learn to delay the MP/HP as much as possible.

it's not sim specific but I'm not sure if it works on everyone yet.
ReplyDeleteSo do you adjust the timing on each palm in the 10 palm combo or is each kara identical?
ReplyDeleteYeah, in the example in the video, the first few are canceled very quickly and from the 4th/5th palm onwards, I give it an extra frame or 2 before the cancel, to make back the distance.

ReplyDeletei can only get 5 and then i get pushed too far back..i been trying to mess with the timing but either i get just a s.mk to come out or a regular palm -_-.... its tricky but im gonna keep at it
ReplyDeleteMedium Palms seems to give better towards momentum than HP version. For people who can't get used to it and get command throw more often, you can just do Reverse DP for the MK~MP Palm Kara.

I had the same problem at first, you have to make sure you never hit down-forward. Q80Warlock has a great alternative in the comment above. Mayb e try doing a reverse dp motion?
